Rolling a 1 (Train) advances the locomotive by 1 station along its track. When the train reaches the terminal station, the match ends immediately!

When you roll the dice (2–6), your miner must move the exact number of steps rolled. You cannot stop early or skip steps. Choose your path wisely to land on valuable nuggets or your cabin.

A miner cannot step back onto any hex cell traversed earlier during the same move turn to "waste steps". All paths must be non-reversing progressive trajectories along connected trail edges.

Railroad tracks intersect miner footpaths across the frontier. When the locomotive occupies a crossing station, that hex cell becomes completely impassable. Miners cannot step onto or cross through that intersection until the train advances.

All wilderness boards contain shoreline raft docks (🛶 RAFT DOCK) offering shortcuts across water bodies. Boarding a raft requires reaching the dock with an exact remaining step count (unless you hold a Raft Pass tool). Crossing the water consumes exactly 1 movement step.

Uncovering a hex tile may reveal a lurking frontier bandit! When challenging a bandit, you roll combat dice against their combat rating:

• Victory (Higher Roll): Defeats the bandit, awards their active SDR bounty directly into your bag, and has a chance to drop confiscated perk tools!
• Defeat (Lower Roll): The bandit robs 25% of your carried loot and remains on the hex.
• Escaped Bandits: If bandits remain undefeated when the match ends, 50% of their bounty rolls into the global Traveling Outlaw Jackpot (Black Bart)!

When an active player lands on (or traverses through) a tile occupied by another miner carrying unsecured SDR nuggets, a Theft Duel can be initiated:

• Both players roll dice authoritatively.
• Challenger Wins (Strictly Higher): Successfully robs 100% of the unsecured SDR from the defender's backpack!
• Defender Wins or Tie: The defender retains all their SDR; the challenger continues their remaining movement without stealing.

Nudges your next roll by ±1. Invaluable for avoiding a roll of 1 that advances the train, or hitting an exact hex to land on a cabin or raft dock.

Grants unrestricted water crossings across the lake ferry. Bypasses the exact step landing requirement, allowing you to cross whenever you reach the dock.

Grants +2 extra movement steps on your next move turn. Perfect for sprinting to bank carried nuggets before the train arrives or catching an opponent.

Automatically bribes and pacifies any encountered outlaw bandit, instantly capturing their bounty with zero combat dice risk.

If an outlaw bandit defeats you in combat:

• You drop 100% of your carried unsecured SDR and flee back to your Home Cabin.
• 25% of your dropped loot is taxed immediately into the Pool Treasury reserve.
• 75% of your dropped loot is permanently added to that bandit's bounty, creating a richer target for whoever defeats them!

When the Frontier Express docks in town and the match ends:

• Carried Loot Not Banked: 100% forfeited to the Pool Treasury. (Always bank at your cabin before the train docks!)
• Unharvested Hex Nuggets: 100% forfeited to the Pool Treasury.
• Undefeated Bandit Bounties: 50% is taxed to the Treasury, and 50% rolls directly into the global Traveling Outlaw Jackpot (Black Bart).
• Black Bart Outlaw: When the Traveling Outlaw randomly spawns on a board, defeating him awards that entire accumulated jackpot to the victorious miner!

Every player keeps 100% of the SDR they safely banked in their cabin. In addition, the player with the highest final score (1 point per banked SDR + 200 points per defeated bandit) is awarded the Grand Champion Chest bonus (35% of the net pot = 33.6% of the gross table pot).
